A US company Terrafugia is taking orders for a flying car that it expects to deliver in 2011. Many previous aero car designs have failed to reach production, but Terrafugia claims the its model had carried out all its flight testing.

The company is seeking affordable insurance options from its underwriters.

In the US the driver needs to posses a sports pilot’s license to fly it.

The 2 seater can take off and land at local airports and drive on any road. It is firther claimed that it takes only 30 seconds to convert the car to a plane. In flying mode it cruises at 780km/h and drives up to 180km/h on the road.

Can easily fit into a standard home garage, uses unleaded petrol and has front wheel drive and a proplellor for flight.
